Without question historys most celebrated numerologist was Pythagoras, a Greek Philosopher who lived in the 6th Century. Numbers allow us to perform mental operations that are not dependant on our five senses. Numbers are not of the external world but of the mind and reflective of our spirit. Through numbers a way to God could be found. Pythagoras taught us that there are nine basic numbers and all else is repetition. By reducing say number 51 by taking each individual number 5+1 = 6 means that 6 is the root number.
